Further conviction for insulting same neighbour following remarks at concert

Conviction

Following the first case, Halil Sezai spoke again about Hüseyin Meriç during a concert, in a segment in which he said he had not been able to hit him as he would have liked. Further proceedings were brought, and the court sentenced him to 4 months and 25 days' imprisonment for insult.

Filmed assault on elderly neighbour: arrest, pre-trial detention and conviction

Conviction

In September 2020, Halil Sezai Paracıkoğlu was filmed during a violent altercation with his neighbour Hüseyin Meriç. He was remanded in custody and subsequently sentenced to 1 year, 11 months and 17 days' imprisonment for several offences, including intentional injury with a weapon, trespass, property damage and insults; he was released after approximately 42 days in detention.

Political controversies surrounding 2016 coup attempt and simultaneous criticism of government and opposition

During the attempted coup of 15 July 2016, Halil Sezai published and then deleted a message questioning President Erdoğan's call for people to take to the streets.
