Portsmouth-Southampton-Portsmouth moves and accusations of 'betrayal'

No legal proceedings

After leaving Portsmouth in 2004, Redknapp joined rivals Southampton two weeks later, a decision described as the 'highest betrayal possible'. His return to Fratton Park with Southampton required heightened security, and he said he had employed a former SAS member. During later departures from Portsmouth, he also received death threats targeting, among others, his wife. A year after his spell at Southampton, he returned to Portsmouth, reigniting the dispute over loyalty.
