2022–2025

Final conviction for non-consensual sexual filming, with acquittal on charge involving another woman

Conviction

Hwang was prosecuted for repeatedly filming two women without consent in 2022. The court found him guilty of the acts involving one woman but acquitted him of the alleged recording during a video call with another. In September 2025, the appeal court upheld a one-year prison sentence suspended for two years. As neither Hwang nor prosecutors appealed within the prescribed period, the sentence became final.

Investigation for "secondary harm" following disclosure of information about complainant, charge ultimately dropped

Case dismissed / dropped — against a third party

Protagonist not prosecuted — these proceedings are not counted in their formal charges or convictions.

After a statement issued by Hwang and his lawyer revealed details about a woman accusing him of non-consensual recording, police also investigated him for disclosing information that could potentially identify her. The case was referred to prosecutors, but in July 2024 they dropped this aspect, finding that the information disclosed was insufficient to identify the victim.
