2003–2008 / 2024: rape and sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 in Operation Stovewood — 15 years in prison and 12 months' extended licence
Conviction
Mohammed Zameer Sadiq was prosecuted as part of Operation Stovewood for offences committed in Rotherham between April 2003 and April 2008. The case concerned two girls who were aged 11 and 15 when the abuse began, both of whom had spent time in the care system. Sadiq was linked to the younger victim. Following a nine-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court, he was convicted of one count of rape and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, also described by the BBC and ITV as unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13. In September 2024, he was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment with 12 months' extended licence. Reports describe the general grooming context of the case — cars, cigarettes, alcohol, cannabis and money — but only acts judicially attributed to Sadiq are personally ascribed to him in this record.
