"Baraye": arrest, three years and eight months' imprisonment with additional penalties, reduction on appeal and announced amnesty

Conviction

The song Baraye, assembled from protesters' messages following Mahsa Amini's death, became an anthem of the 2022 movement. Hajipour was arrested in late September 2022. In 2024, he announced a total sentence of three years and eight months' imprisonment, including a travel ban and obligations to produce mandated content. In August 2024, additional penalties were overturned on appeal and part of the main sentence suspended. In September 2024, Hajipour announced that his case had been closed under an amnesty.
