Khan-Makhdoom v Hussain proceedings: disputed allegations involving intimate videos, threats and explicit messages

Civil / administrative proceedings

Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom brought defamation proceedings against activist Faryaal Hussain over publications, a podcast and a petition. In December 2025, the High Court rejected their second attempt to strike out most of the defence before trial, while granting summary judgment in relation to the 'honest opinion' defence. Pleadings filed by Hussain in 2026 allege, among other things, that Khan sent explicit messages and images to several women, secretly recorded an intimate encounter, applied or caused pressure to be applied and offered £20,000 to a woman. The pleadings also contain allegations concerning Makhdoom. The couple seek damages for reputational harm and dispute all the allegations.
