Acquitted / conviction overturned

Kim Jung-ju was prosecuted for providing his friend, prosecutor Jin Kyung-joon, with benefits including financing the purchase of Nexon shares, a car and family travel expenses. Prosecutors argued that these were bribes intended to secure future protection. Kim and his family put 98.64% of NXC up for sale in a transaction potentially worth approximately ten trillion won and capable of transferring control of Nexon. The announcement sent shockwaves through the Korean industry, particularly over concerns that the country's leading publisher could pass into foreign ownership.
