2001-2006 / 2025: Operation Lytton — rape of Girl A and 12 years in prison

Conviction

Operation Lytton concerned the sexual exploitation of two girls in Rochdale between 2001 and 2006, who were aged 13 when the abuse began. At trial, the victims were described as having been groomed with money, gifts and often alcohol or drugs, then 'passed around' and treated as 'sex slaves' by the network. Roheez Khan, born in Pakistan according to court reports, already had a sexual offence conviction from 2013. Concerning Girl A, sentencing reports indicate that Zahid had introduced her to Khan; Khan saw Zahid rape her in a flat in Rochdale and then raped her himself. At trial, Khan's defence denied any sexual interaction. Nevertheless, the jury convicted him of one count of rape against Girl A. He was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment on 1 October 2025. This new rape conviction, following his 2013 sexual offence conviction, factually establishes repeat sexual offending resulting in convictions, without presuming a formal legal classification of 'repeat offending' under the technical provisions of a criminal code.

2008-2009 / 2013: sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl — conviction and six-and-a-half-year sentence

Conviction

In 2013, Khan, then aged 27 and described in reports as born in Pakistan / of Pakistani origin, was convicted of sexual activity with a child in a case involving a 15-year-old girl described as profoundly vulnerable. The offences in the case occurred in 2008 and 2009. Several men had exploited her vulnerability, often in circumstances involving alcohol and cannabis. Khan received an overall sentence of six and a half years for this offence and a separate conviction for witness intimidation. In 2014, the Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal against the severity of the sentence.

2013: separate conviction for witness intimidation in the same case

Conviction

Court reports by The Guardian, Sky News, ITV and The Independent all indicate that Roheez Khan was convicted not only of sexual activity with a child but also of witness intimidation. The overall sentence imposed for both offences was six and a half years. A subsequent Crime+Investigation documentary summary indicates that the intimidation targeted the girl and her mother as she was attempting to escape the abuse; in the absence of an accessible primary court report precisely describing the acts, the JSON records only the established conviction and does not present the secondary details as separate judicially established facts.
