Split with C8: channel's liability established but compensation partially quashed

Civil / administrative proceedings

After leaving C8 in 2019, Ardisson and his companies sued the channel for abrupt termination of commercial relations. A Court of Appeal had increased compensation to approximately €6.5 million, but the Court of Cassation quashed the amounts awarded to Ardis and Télé Paris in 2022, while leaving intact the finding that C8 was responsible for the termination. A settlement ended the Télé Paris aspect in 2023, while the Ardis litigation continued.

Éric Zemmour's racial remarks on 'Salut les Terriens' and controversy over staging of debate

Conviction — against a third party

Protagonist not prosecuted — these proceedings are not counted in their formal charges or convictions.

Éric Zemmour stated on 'Salut les Terriens' that 'most drug dealers are Black and Arab'. The remarks prompted extensive anti-racism litigation and contributed to Zemmour's 2011 conviction for incitement to racial discrimination. Ardisson, who had organised the confrontation with Rokhaya Diallo, was criticised for how the segment was staged.
