2022–2024

Two positive VADA tests for clomifene and anti-doping saga ending with UKAD charge dismissed

Civil / administrative proceedings

Two voluntary VADA tests detected clomifene in 2022, leading to cancellation of the fight against Chris Eubank Jr. In 2023, the WBC concluded that there was no conclusive evidence of intentional ingestion and suggested high egg consumption as a reasonable explanation. The UKAD proceedings then involved a suspension, its lifting, an appeal and another suspension before the NADP ruled on 6 November 2024 that UKAD had not proved a violation to its satisfaction; the charge was dismissed and the suspension lifted. On 28 November 2024, UKAD confirmed that it would not appeal.

2022

British boxing licence relinquished and separate misconduct allegations maintained by BBBofC

No legal proceedings

In October 2022, Benn ceased to hold his British boxing licence around the time of a British Boxing Board of Control hearing. The Board stated that it had maintained misconduct allegations; Benn challenged their fairness, while his promoter emphasised that the charge did not constitute a doping ban.
