L'enquête indépendante dirigée par l'ancien juge B. N. Srikrishna a conclu en janvier 2019 que l'ancienne MD & CEO Chanda Kochhar avait enfreint le code de conduite de la banque, son cadre de gestion des conflits d'intérêts et des obligations de divulgation/recusation. Le conseil a requalifié son départ en 'termination for cause' et demandé la restitution des bonus 2009-2018.
