Since his brother's death in prison in August 2019, Mark Epstein has publicly disputed the conclusion of suicide. He hired pathologist Michael Baden, highlighted neck injuries they regard as atypical and repeatedly called for a new investigation. In 2025–2026, he continued citing anomalies in videos, prison procedures and the autopsy.
